I have access to my good old Facebook account again! The most important things there (like friends and memberships) appear intact. Some layout details had gone fubar during my absence.
Yesterday, I e-mailed Facebook and asked them to reopen my account.
Now I'm waiting for something - anything - to happen. So far, there's no sign of life.
And in the meantime, I keep blogging, of course! There's my main blog (come and join the discussions!), and then there's this lovely space here at Vox, where I seem to be covering a very special and surprising topic :-}
Please, feel free to connect with me via the various social sites, using the ones you personally like. My most interesting stuff can be found, for the time being, on Twitter (status), LinkedIn (I still need a job...), YouTube (all those interesting channels I've subscribed to), and Flickr (check out my Creative Commons photos, and especially all the cool stuff created by other people).
Yes they did. Don't ask me why, because I can only guess. Don't ask if my account will be reopened some day, because I don't know. We'll wait and see.
The irony in this is, that Facebook call themselves "a social utility", and the closedown occurred at the end of a day when I was actually using Facebook as a [cough, cough!] social utility. If you know me in person, you'll really appreciate the irony in me allegedly being socially "too active" :-}
Anyway, the most important lesson in this is that never, ever rely on just one social network!
I'm so glad that I've established my presence in so many places on the Web. Look for "tietoukka", and you'll probably find me easily.
More later,
Maria :-)
OK, now I'm finally adding books and other stuff. Let's see how this works!
